Barron Gorge - June 2020
I have been exploring a completely different section of Barron Gorge of late. It is such a wonderful place to be able to visit less than 30 minutes from work.
Your biggest worry in the Gorge is rain. As soon as water hits those rocks they can be as slippery as ice. You need to take great care to check the weather before walking too far in.
A little bit of rain gives a nice flow of clear water over the rocks. If the rain is too heavy the water that washes down the Gorge can be quite muddy. At the moment the water is crystal clear.
Dry rocks enable you to venture up the sides of the Gorge to view some of the smaller waterfalls that flow into it. Once again be very careful as rocks that you can climb up dry you might not be able to climb down once wet from rain.
On the right day, in the right spot, with great light, this place is magic.
