Red-backed fairy-wren
This is one of those birds that I see quite often but fail to get good photos of. Posting some poor photos to motivate me to get some better ones.
The male is overall a glossy black with a red/orange rump. The wings are bit brownish black.
The female is a pale warm brown on the upper parts with the underparts being buff white. Immature birds look like females. They are found in tropical, coastal to semi arid inland areas. They like low dense vegetation.
They feed on insects near or on the ground, are sedentary and common.
