This is an inconspicuous bird that live in the upper foliage. Both sexes are similar. They have brown-black frons and crown and a distinctive yellow skin patch below the eyes.

They feed mainly on insects followed by nectar and fruit. Moderately common and they are also sedentary.

The back of the bird is brown that is heavily streaked with yellow. The breast has olive and white streaks. The legs are grey with a bluish tinge.
