Rising tide and a setting sun

Late September 2023

The waves creeping up the sand with the tide.

One afternoon late September I went to one of my favourite spots north of Ellis beach to take a break from work. The tide was coming in and I was there to watch the setting sun.

Waves of the incoming tide.

The above photo shows the last of the sun hitting the top of the waves as the tide rushes in.

Rocky out crops going further under water.

Soon the water will cover almost all of that rock outcrop, the sky darken and tints of colour start to appear.

Crabs are always present.

The crabs on the rocks brave the incoming waves. How they hang on under the force of the water I have no idea.

The tide almost all the way up.

The rising tide now covers almost all of the rocks. The sun would soon be setting.

The sun dropping below the range.

Once the sun drops below the range things start getting a lot darker and colour in the sky starts to appear.

Colour over the ocean.

The first change is in the sky looking out to the sea as tints of pink and red display in the clouds.

Sunset after burn looking back up to Port Douglas.

Then after sunset the after burn starts and the colour moves from out over the ocean back towards the Tablelands. Great end to a day.
