Warrgamay Country - Dalrymple Creek - Broadwater State Forest

The first view of the creek from the road.

When I showed my wife this photo she said it was too busy. Sometimes the beauty of a place is so hard to capture with a camera.

Walking along the creek in the water. Crystal clear.

I spent half a day at this spot getting familiar with it walking and swimming in the crystal clear water. I was the only person there the whole time.

Notice board at the start fo the Dalrymple Pass Track.

The creek is the starting point of the Dalrymple Gap walking track which takes you from just north of Ingham to just below Five Mile Creek on the Brice Highway. The track is a 6 hour walk one way according to the sign and only suitable for advanced hikers.

Deadfall at the first river crossing on the Pass track.

The initial 1 kilometre walk along the track to the first river crossing and is as far as I went on this day. It was a very flat and easy walk.

Lots of deadfall and fungi.

I observed some of the deadfall and fungi, listened to the birds while I had a drink and something to eat. It was then time to head back to the car and return home.

How to get there

The creek crossing in Saptember 2022.

The turn off to Dalrymple creek is on the road into Broadwater State Forest. Head north from Ingham and then follow the signs to turn left to Broadwater. From the highway it is a 50 kilometre journey with half on bitumen and the other half on well maintained dirt road.

One of the water crossings

Come the wet season and the Swift will not make it in as there are 3 or 4 water crossings that would be too much for it with more water. The dirt road might not be the best then as well.

The camping area. No facilities so please clean up.

There is a clearing for camping at the start of the track by the creek. A permit is required and unlike Broadwater there are no facilities at Dalrymple, so please clean up after yourself. Magic spot.
