A bit of travel, rain and photography.
Last night I drove home from Townsville after a work trip under the best full moon of the year. I had to pull over on the side of the road outside Ingham and grab this photo through the grass.
I had meetings in Townsville Friday afternoon, that night and early Saturday morning. On the way home I spent the afternoon on Dalrymple Creek in the Broadwater State Forest National Park on Warrgamay Country.
I have been to Townsville for work a few times in the last month and on the way down I have been stopping at Girramay National park for a break. I cannot identify this bird, if you know what it is please let me know.
Back in Cairns my usual daily walks with the camera have been greatly reduced. When I do get out it has been to Barron Gorge. At the moments the figs have dropped fruit on the rainforest floor and it is transforming into ……well I do not know what.
The bit of rain we have had of late I am guessing has added to the transformation of this fruit which is scattered everywhere.
The dry weather prior to this little bit of rain has meant that the leaves are falling adding some colour to the green that so often dominates there. The little bit of water has also resulted in some of the seasonal waterfalls trickling.
Back in May this year the above waterfall was in full flow at the peak of the waterfall season.
Before the rain last week there was even less water than this flowing down that rock face in the photo above. I am not expecting much from the waterfalls when I go into the rainforest at this time of the year.
Back down on the river and the water continues to get clearer the longer we get in the dry. I am sure the kayakers are grateful.
The other location that I have ben visiting for work lately is Mareeba. I will be up there again this week. If possible I like to time my meetings so that I can be at Mareeba Wetlands for sunset. I hope to get another photo like the one below one day. In the meantime it is just a wonderful place to view the setting sun.
