Never a dull moment
5th August 2021
I go into Barron Gorge often but it is never dull even when I do not get a great photo. Above is what I was greeted with today once I made it to the waters edge. Not a great photo but still beautiful.
On my way down to the river I often come across animals and insects. On this day I bumped into this little fella.
On other days it might be a goanna, snake or any one of the many birds that frequent the Gorge.
That grasshopper was near this fallen tree, which in its last act before mother nature reclaims it to the soil, is the host of this young plant growing out of it.
Off in the distance I noticed something unnatural in the Gorge. I went over to investigate and it appears that a vehicle has rolled into the Gorge. When they removed it some parts were left behind. I noted to grab them on the way out.
A week or so ago when I arrived down at the river a bit earlier than normal the sun was very bright. I was shocked to see out of the corner of my eye a huge eel come out of the water and climb over the rocks from one water pool to another.
When I first saw the eel I was totally unprepared with my camera still in the bag. I did manage to get a few photos of it before it disappeared below some rocks under water.
On recent visits I have also started to show an interest in some of these circular markings on or in the rocks. I cannot tell which it is. Would love to know what creates these patterns which now catch my eye quite often.
At the moment the water coming down the Gorge is quite clean but it still carries sediment in it and some of that creates patterns on the surface in side pools.
Whilst I am walking the rivers edge and in between the rocks I look for patterns in what just looks like a dirty surface top if only given a quick glance.
Like a lot of days in the Gorge this sunset was not that spectacular but a lovely time there none the less. Not long after this photo it was time to leave as it would soon be dark.
Once I have packed up my gear it is usually pretty much dark and the moon clearly visible. I never get sick of even just walking out especially under moonlight.
By the time I had loaded as much of the car parts I could into/onto the bumper cover and carried it back up to the road it was well and truly dark. It is always an eventful and refreshing break in Barron Gorge.
