End of May 2021 - the wet season continues
For a little while now I have been photographing the same spot in Barron Gorge and intend to take 100 photos there. Going to the same spot requires very little thought nor planning. Already I can see how varied the photos look which I find interesting and the process is great relaxation . The best photo so far is the one above from the 27th.
Friday the 28th saw me doing video for the Barron Trinity Bulls and Saturday I was at work but did go into Barron Gorge late afternoon to photograph that spot again as part of the 100 photos.
Sunday the 30th saw me up the Tablelands for some work but I spent the early morning with the always crazy Whistling Ducks at Hastie’s Swamp.
Later in the morning of the 30th I headed into Atherton to attend the presentation of a ring I made to mark a members 60 years of continual service in a community group. A very enjoyable morning to mark an outstanding contribution to the community.
After the presentation I headed back to Hastie’s Swamp to see if I could get some photos of the uncommon Pink-eared Duck. This is the second time I have seen them there and whilst still a long way away I got better photos than the first sighting.
When it started to rain at Hastie’s Swamp I decided to head out to Ravenshoe. It was also raining at Ravenshoe but I do not mind a walk in the rain so headed into Coolabbi Creek, a place I have visited quite a few times now.
It continued to rain all afternoon so I sat in the rain with my poncho and drank coffee. I love the rocks when they are wet. As soon as the rain reduced enough I took some photos. I walked out of the bush in the dark and then headed back to Atherton to have a late cup of tea with some friends on their farm before heading down the range.
The last day of May, and I am back at work. I took a break from work late afternoon to head into my 100 photo location and the rain came down big time on the drive there. No colour but once again I love wet rocks.
Right on dark a kayaker came down the river so I felt a little less weird being there in the rain and near darkness. Back at work now and a very late night of work to end May and head into June.
