Snakes at the Lakes
Egrets are a regular sight at Centenary lakes.
As I often do I went to Centenary Lakes for a bit of a break from work. There was not that much birdlife present other than an Egret in the lily pads. The water level is quite high at the moment.
I do not think there has been a single time that I have visited and a Pacific Black Duck was not there. Apart form that, it was quiet break and time to head home.
As I was leaving another visitor mentioned that near the exit their was a snake in one of the trees. It took me a little while to find out which tree as the snake was so high up.
The snake was up there.
If you have ever tried to take photos straight up you will know that it is time to get a sore neck.

Sure enough after there was the snake. I just needed to wait for it to move a little. This would take a while.
That is one long snake.
Finally the snake showed it’s face as it appeared to check out what I was doing. This snake seemed to have no end. I think after looking at some of my photos that there might have been one or two very long snakes tangled together.
It was hard to get a good photo in the dark shade.
I tried for quite sometime to get a clear photo of his head but looking straight up a tree and the light being poor in the shade resulted in less than great photos sorry.
The snake starts to curl up again.
It seemed that the snake lost interest in me and started to prepare for a sleep. You can just see one eye of the snake on the right in the above photo.
Nap time for the snake and back to work for me..
