Swans and the dry swamp

December 2020

Mid November 2020.

Back when I first starting the Tablelands Swamps it was just after big wet. All of that area to the left was under water and the Swans swam all over the Swamp. If you look closely you can still see a bit of water far off on the distant.

Back when there was water covering pretty much the entire Swamp swans nested in the middle of it. These photos were taken back in July 2020.

The remaining water in early December 2020.

In early December 2020 not much remains of the water and the water lilies that covered the remaining water have been eaten by the cattle.

It appears that despite the lack of water, nesting was successful for some of the Swans. I spotted this juvenile Swan on my last visit there.

I am stuck at work on a Sunday in December and cannot wait to get back out to the Swamp during some time off over the festive season.
