Barron colours
late September 2020
For the last week of September I spent every afternoon I could in Barron Gorge taking photos. The colours were spectacular but did not last for long as you will see later.
The photo above and the one below were taken on consecutive days with the colours getting stronger as time passed.
As the colours got stronger so too did the rate at which the leaves started to fall from the trees. You can see the leaves on the rocks below building up.
Barron Gorge is normally a sea of green. Beautiful but so very green. To have this colour even for just a short period of time was a pleasant change for someone who visits there pretty much weekly.
Up past the bridge the water flow is very slow leaving the water calm and clear. You can see the rocks that line the base of the river as you stroll up the Gorge.
I try to take my time in the Gorge as it really refreshes and relaxes me. I am usually there on my own especially as it gets late in the day.
The last weekend in September saw me taking video for my sons Rugby Union team and I missed a few days of visiting the Gorge. By the time I returned on the 30th of September that tree above looked like this below.
By the end of September most of the colour was gone in the Gorge and I now look for other things to photograph on my visits of which there are many :)
Once the moon is clear in the sky it is time for me to start making my way out of the Gorge….unless I stay to shoot astro :)
