Lake Eacham

My wife stopping for a break as we walk around the lake.

My wife loves the 3 klm walk around this lake. We have done it several times together now. It is an easy walk with very little incline and it appears that many of the locals use it as an exercise track. What a beautiful place to stay fit.

A section of the lake edge.

As you walk around the lake you get some lovely views of the opposing bank edge. This view is right near the start of the track.

A family canoeing the lake.

The lake is a popular spot for water activities. As far as I can tell power boats are not allowed there but you will see many paddling their way around the lake.

In August 2019 my niece came to visit us from Japan with her friend. My wife and I took them to the lake for a picnic lunch and a walk around the lake. That day there were people scuba diving in the lake.

Fascinated by the scuba divers, making a video on their Gopro.

I have no idea how deep the lake is but our visitors were fascinated by the site of people diving there. They spent quite a bit of time watching them and the people that were swimming in the freezing water.

You can see many fish and turtles in the lake right from the edge. I think there are signs asking you to not feed the wildlife. The Bush turkeys are everywhere around the picnic area waiting for food scraps.

Signs also inform you that there is a Freshwater Crocodile in the lake but we have never seen it.

As you walk around the lake you are treated to a large variety of vegetation on the track, up the hills, by the lake, reaching out onto, over and into it.

As well as looking around and down do not forget to look up as there are some spectacular sights to be seen there as well. You might also get to spot a Tree Kangaroo or some of the plentiful birdlife.
