Comments:

Larimar is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite. It is only found in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. It varies in colour from white, light-blue, green-blue to deep blue.

The richer the blue the greater the value of the gem. The blue colour comes from the presence of Copper in the pectolite. The colour is photosensitive so it will fade if exposed to too much heat or light.

This broach is quite large measuring 4.2cm in length. I have made 6 broaches in the past 15 years and all for the same customer. She uses pink sapphires in almost all her pieces.
