Changes

17th September 2021 - Customer locations: Victoria & Tarzali, Qld

Back in 2016 I made an Aboriginal flag and totem ring. (not the ring above) I had so many issues with the creation of it that I decided to stop making the.

Then in early 2020 a lovely young lady from Victoria asked me to make a wedding ring for her Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander partner. I initially said no but as you can tell from the photo above of the finished ring I ended up changing my mind and saying yes….after she asked me again…..and again :)

Dhari and Star of the Zenadth Kes flag.

The Dhari and Star of the Zenadth Kes flag sits side by side with the Aboriginal flag. For this wedding ring the onyx that makes up the black of the Aboriginal flag had to be curved. To achieve this I had to hand carve it.

The ring is made in 9ct rose gold which is also used for the lower section of the flag.  The sun in the flag is made of 18 carat yellow gold.

Eagle totem.

This ring features both his Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes totems. The Eagle is his Aboriginal totem and rather than do the whole bird it was decide to do the head only and make it a more prominent feature. As it turns out the head of an Eagle stands on its own really well.

Manata Ray totem.

Manta Ray is his Zenadth Kes totem. As he is a railway worker we used crossed sledge hammers as a symbol of how he provides for his family and as spacers in the design.

Will I make another one? Never the same and similar I doubt it. We worked on this ring design for nearly a year on and off and once I was ready to make the ring it took me well over a week to get it how I wanted it. BTW the customer loves the ring :)

Change of location - the new workshop

I am in the new workshop in Lake St in the city and as off next week will be taking meetings again.  Thank you to those that have been patiently waiting. I will contact you on Monday.

Please call me if you would like to make an appointment.

Changing 3 rings into 1

Tarzali customer’s ring: Remodel of a bridal set into one ring.

Thank you also to those that continued to work with me on pieces remotely whilst I was on a break working part time. Those are the jobs that will be the first to be created at the new premises.

Between changing office I did a few house calls and a customer at Tarzali (very sad to see the nearby Platypus Sanctuary closed) was one of them.  Hers is the first piece made at the new location and it was picked up today. We turned her bridal set into one ring.

From My World this week Stoney Creek Falls which I visited for the first time in August.  Have a great weekend.
