Regulars

3rd July 2020

A 21 diamond 21st birthday pendant.

My regulars know the systems I use to create a design. In this case of this 21st birthday gift, to get started the customer came ready with photos of pendants with designs aspects that she liked.

I was also given a photo of a tattoo that belonged to the recipient and asked to incorporate it into the design of the gift. 21 diamonds were to be featured in the pedant to mark the occasion.

Skipping a few steps in the design process to near the end and the final option I put to the customer was to cut out sections of the Lotus. She loved the idea and the pendant was ready to be made.

For every new customer my first task is to understand their tastes in jewellery. With my regular customers I already have an understanding of their style in jewellery so the process usually goes quicker.

After all, if they wanted generic designs they would be shopping at the jewellery chains. The most important thing for me to remember is that my preference in design is not relevant. My job is to offer alternatives and refinements to the design, not to project my tastes on the piece.

Have a great weekend.
