NAIDOC Week 8th - 15th July 2018

NAIDOC week is fast approaching and as I have done for a couple of years now to mark the week I give stuff away.  Two pieces to start, one exclusively for the people of Zenadth Kes and the other exclusively for any person who has purchased a piece from me in the past.

Draw 1:  Zenadth Kes

The first draw to kick off NAIDOC week this year is a 9ct yellow gold mens/unisex ring with a Palladium Sterling silver Waru feature.  Being one of my Zenadth Kes pieces you can only enter if you are a Torres Strait Islander.  Please read here why it is so.

To enter you go to Pryce Centre for Culture and Arts Facebook page and comment on any of the recent posts the words "8-15 July NAIDOC week 2018". Please just copy and paste.

I am aware that the theme this year for NAIDOC week is the women in the community but I promised the men a while back that I would give one of these away for the annual NAIDOC prize draw. I hope you forgive me ladies.

Rita Pryce or myself will do the draw on the evening of the 8th July for this ring. Good luck.

Draw 2: For those that have ever purchased from me

My customers know that I do not advertise.  They have for the longest time been my advertising as they recommend me to their friends and family. They know that an appointment is required to see me and that I can be hard to see at times as I fulfil promises I have made to other customers.

Things happen very differently here compared to a "jewellery store" and my customers prepare the people they refer to me for that.  They understand what I do, value it and I am extremely grateful. It is time for me to show that gratitude.

To enter simply go to my Facebook page and comment on the photo of this pendant.  If you have changed your surname since your purchase please not that in the comment so that I can find you.

So if you are a customer of mine that does not use FB, and I know there are many of you, thank you for following my website. Please email me and I will enter your name in the draw.

This pendant will be drawn to go to a customer on the 15th of July to mark the end of NAIDOC week. I will announce the winner here and on my Facebook page.

<Old internet hippy rant> Facebook the "social platform"

I do not really care if you like or follow my Facebook page. It means very little to me other than being a nice gesture.

I personally think Facebook is a scam with controlled exposure of content to extort money from people like myself.  The "social" in this social media platform is not the same social I understand in the definition of "socialism". The people control very little on Facebook. Facebook control what you post and what you see to whatever extent they feel appropriate.

You may need to check my website or FB page to see the result as I refuse to give FB any money to put my posts (Facebook call this "Boosting") in your News feed.

If you like FB you may need to regularly check my FB page as FB usually hide it until I give them money....which I will not do any more.

So why do I use Facebook for this? Well it seems many of you find it handy and it is about you not me.

</Old internet hippy rant>

On a more positive note :)

I hope you all have a great NAIDOC week and I will be sure to post all the news here and on FB.  I am especially excited to do the first of my giveaways exclusively for my existing customers.

A very sincere thank you from my family to my customers for their support over what has turned into quite a few years now.  I will be sure to do more draws exclusively for my customers.
