Diamonds and Pearls
30th June 2018
At the end of the financial year I thought I would share what is on my bench this week and one piece that left it.
The ring
The ring to the right above is an 18ct yellow gold solitaire proposal ring (explained here) that will be picked up shortly. This ring will be used for the surprise proposal and following that the couple will come in and design the ring together.
The diamond is GIA certified and laser inscribed. It weighs 1.01 carats, is F colour Si1 clarity. It has the highest grades of "Excellent" for Cut, Polish and Symmetry.
Trilliant cut diamond
I am currently working on the design for this stunning diamond. It weighs 1.22 carats, is F Colour and Si1 clarity. This diamond is lab certified by Australian Diamond Grading Laboratory. This is the piece that is getting most of my thought at the moment.
Gold South Sea Pearls
It is so hard to show the colour of these pearls in a photo. They are absolutely stunning and I am very excited to be working on them in the next week. The pearl for the pendant is 13mm and those for the earrings 10mm.
They will be made into a pendant and earring set to celebrate a recent birthday. Once they are finished I will make sure I share photos with you all.
Diamonds again
Lastly a piece that was not in the photo above as it left my bench this week to go to a customer in South East Queensland.
I was asked by this customer to remodel some old unwanted jewellery into a ring that was a gift to herself to mark a work milestone amongst other things.
- Total diamond weight 1.73 carats
- 207 diamonds
- Double halo - circle in square
- Millgrain edging
- 18ct Palladium white gold
This ring took quite a bit of time as the desired design did not readily suit the gemstones that she had to recycle. After a lot of trial and error with arrangements and additional diamond options the design above was created.
I ran very late with this ring and am very grateful for this customers patience. More details of the ring are below the photos.
