The June Groom
August 20th 2012
More and more men are putting a great deal of thought into the only piece of jewellery they think they will ever wear, their wedding rings. We take a look at 3 mens rings I have made recently for "June Grooms".
We have all heard of the June bride but today I am going to share with you some wedding rings I have made this year for June grooms.
Some men are unable to wear rings at work and the ring becomes a dress ring of sorts. This occasional social wear means that the ring is unlikely to receive too much rough treatment and some of the more precious alloys can be used. This was the case for the 18ct yellow gold knot ring pictured to the right.
A photo of the basic design was brought to me by the customer and during the silver draft process we modified it to a width that best suited the customers hand. At the same time we also decided to have the knot repeat three times around the ring instead of once.
As with the previous ring I can also customise any of the rings found in the design section of this site. One of my more popular mens wedding ring designs is usually made to a width of 7ml with a light matte finish. After discussing the design with a customer the ring to the right was made to a width of 6ml with an inside comfort edge. 9ct yellow gold was used for the band with a heavier than normal texture for the 9ct white gold centre strip. As well as varying the width and thickness I could also offer the choice of 9, 14 or 18ct alloys and reversing the colours.
The final ring I want to share with you today was one that I mentioned to you previously in a post about an engagement ring I made for Benjamin who was living in London at the time. Benjamin now lives in Darwin and by email we designed his wedding ring. By digitally editing images we varied the gold widths, diamond size, colour combinations... etc. Once we thought we had the look we were after a silver draft was made, gold plated to show the intended colours and sent by freight bag for Benjamin`s approval of the design and size.
The real ring (pictured below) was made in 14ct yellow and white gold alloys and features a hammer set .05ct round brilliant cut diamond.
