That extra bit of planning.

February 29th 2012

If you plan for your wedding ring when you make the engagement ring it makes everything go so much smoother later down the road.

In October of 2010 I was asked to make a dress ring by Benjamin. The ring was to be used as a gift for his girlfriend. In late 2011 Benjamin once again asked me to make a ring for him but this time an engagement ring.

Benjamin likes to plan ahead and this suited me as it is always best to plan for the wedding ring as much as you can at the time you make the engagement ring. Benjamin however wanted the engagement ring to somehow link in design with both his and his fiancee`s (to be) wedding rings.

The centre gemstone is a .80ct GIA laboratory graded diamond. Top grade square cut Australian blue sapphires were used as side features with round brilliant cut diamonds channel set into the band.

The band and setting are made in 18ct yellow and white gold alloys respectively and part of the white gold setting wraps around the ring to meet at a hammer set diamond.

When I worked with Benjamin on connecting the design of the engagement ring with the wedding rings we looked at several design options that he liked. We however decided to leave the finer details of the design so that we could include his fiancee in the process.

I won`t being sharing those designs with you today but what I can tell you is that Benjamin did propose and Renee said yes. Congratulations to you both and thank you once again for allowing me to make your engagement ring.
