Golden-headed Cisticola
They take their name from their golden orange head. The upper parts are a golden buff with heavily streaked back and wings. The underparts are plain.
They feed on insects under the cover of tall grass. That is exactly where I saw this bird, sitting on a fence next to 6 foot tall grass in a farm paddock.
They like open areas in wetlands, tall wet grasses, reed beds and swampy vegetation.
The crest raises when calling. The voice is an incessant metallic buzz followed by short musical notes. The tail is short and brown with the edges and tips buff.
