Cattle Egret
It is believed that the Cattle Egret self introduced to Australia about 1900. You often see them near or on top of livestock.
Nuptial plumes are an orange buff and seen on the head, neck , breast and back. They can breed all year round and do so depending on food supply.
They are usually seen in flocks often in areas where cattle are present. They create modest stick platform nests in trees and lay 3-6 eggs.
The like swamplands, grasslands and farmland with grazing animals.
The have a shorter bill than the other Egrets and are often seen with their necks crunched up. They are slightly smaller than an Intermediate Egret.
