Jabiru - Black-necked Stork

I have never seen an adult fo this bird. When adult the legs are a deep pink colour and the wings more white and black. This bird seems to be in the transition from juvenile to adult.

Fully immature birds have an overall brown appearance as you can see above.

They are extremely skittish and take to flight if you are not careful. Even when careful they still seem to take to flight readily.

As you can see this bird has had enough of me. Like another local big bird the Brolga, the Jabiru usually flies with the neck full extended. This one must be waiting to get full runway clearance before extending the neck.
