Black Kite
Terrible photos but the challenge is to get some better ones :) My technique was really bad. It was also very late in the morning and the heat was blurring the photos as well. Good news is that these birds are very common for almost the whole of Australia.
Why this is called a “Black” Kite puzzles me. According to my book it gets its name from the distinct 5 finger ends to the wings that are near black and that it is supposed to look black from a distance.
Despite the heat this bird gave me every chance to get better photos as it flew almost straight at me at one stage. I stuffed up!
