Camping in solitude

Camping in the bush outside Broken Hill
As I type this I am sitting in Adelaide. It took me 5 days of riding to get here with a day stop in Townsville to see my daughter and granddaughter added to that.
The photo above was my campsite about 100klms outside of Broken Hill. The previous night I stayed in a caravan park at Bourke. Despite the caravan park being beautiful and well maintained it was the worst night of the trip. The dogs in the caravan park and in the township barked all night……and I mean all bloody night! It was torture.
Sunrise the next morning
When I slept in the bush outside Broken Hill the following night there was not a sound. It was total bliss and when I awoke in the morning this was my view as the sun rose above the horizon.
Packed and hitting the road again.
Packing the bike has now become a much more streamlined event. It became quite cold as I ride once I got south of Emerald so in Adelaide I am adding layers to my riding wear. Despite the cold the freedom of the bike is a revelation.
Vehicle in need of some maintenance.
Whilst definitely not in need of as much repair as the car above my bike Himi is due for it’s 10k service. Thank fully despite being fully booked for 3 weeks, the wonderful team at Yamaha World and Royal Enfield are going to try to squeeze it in tomorrow so I can hit the road again on a well tuned Himi :)
An old well site (?) on the way out from camp that morning.
If they do manage to get Himi serviced I will be leaving Adelaide for the Yorke Peninsula early Friday morning. Getting closer and closer to the Flinders Ranges!
