My old Swift has gone places it was never designed to go. My family refer to it as the “the rally car”. After some recent repairs and a service I now have another issue with it so roaming last weekend was put on hold yet again.

When my mechanic was servicing the car he noticed a bulge in the side of one of the Dunlop tyres. The bulge has since gotten worse so looks like I will have to take it in to see if warranty covers it or I need to pay to replace it. I don’t trust the look of that on something like Gillies Range.

By Tuesday I really needed some time in the bush so once again I decided to make use of the good old faithful nearby Barron Gorge. The destination today would be Dead Falls, a waterfall high up the side of Barron Gorge and once again it would be more about time in the bush than photos.

I was however interested to see what it was like now that we are in the drier part of the year. Indeed the track up was quite dry. Last time I climbed over this big rectangular rock it looked very different.

Earlier in the year during the wet there was a steady flow of water down the track and over the rocks. What a difference to the colours a bit of moisture makes..

Light also really effects how the colours in the rocks appear. By the time I had arrived at the falls we were well into that beautiful end of the day soft light. Despite the rocks being very dry I quite like this photo.

As I made my way back down the hillside the light got even prettier so when I was passing this little wet red rock waterfall I had to stop and take a photo. Nice walk in the bush before heading back to work for a very late night.
