Having another go after some rain

Mid June 2023

I have photographed this rock in Barron Gorge many times now and still feel I have failed to capture its impressive nature that I feel when I view it in real life.

This photo was taken on a very cloudy day just after rain. I am in the water to take it and for a Far North Queenslander the middle of June the water was way too cold for my liking.

I have not been into Barron Gorge much over the past few months. On this day we had received some rain so the rocks were as slippery as ice. I take my time when the rocks are wet and use the three points of contact rule.

The calm after the storm.

There is something about being by the river and in the rainforest during and after rain that appeals to me greatly. Along the river I love it how the rainforest reflects on the waters surface giving it a beautiful colour.

Water sliding down to the river on the hot rocks.

You can see how the heat in the rocks from the sun prior to the shower dries them out quickly but the water from the hillside continues to flow down over them to the river.

Getting dark but still beautiful.

On this day it was dark by the time I was out of the Gorge. As the light faded the view was so peaceful. Fantastic way to refresh before heading back to work.
