Work, walk and work again
18th September 2022
Saturday was a fair bit of work with a walk in between to refresh. Not having time to travel I decided to walk right up to the top of the side of Barron Gorge to this waterfall. With the lack of rain we have had I was expecting it to look pretty much like this.
This waterfall was stunning back at the end of the waterfall season in 2022. The walk was more for the exercise than anything else on this day.
It was a really sunny blue sky day so the already tiring walk up the hillside was even tougher. On the way I stopped for a break to try and record some of the flora.
Rather than fight the specular highlights I tried to use them to frame some of the vegetation in shadow. Trees on trees, the way they grow never ceases to amaze me.
My wife tells me that the Japanese refer to this type of mushroom as a Monkey’s chair.
Just below my destination for the day is another tier of the waterfall that has a large swimming hole at the base of it. Unlike when I took my son to this spot a few months ago it is now hot enough to swim.
During my swim that waterfall put on a display not visible in this photo from this angle. So I hopped out and got the camera.
There was a beautiful rainbow flickering in the waterfall above me. Great break but time to dry off, head back down and return to work.
I call this waterfall up the side of Barron Gorge “Wait a while Falls”. All the way up the path are “wait a while” bushes that will remind you to slow down and enjoy the journey :)
When I arrived back at work and parked the car in the garage I noticed that someone else had hitched a ride. He had clung on to the outside of the car…..and he was still attached when I returned home from work at about 9pm.
