Dead Horse Creek is in the State Forest out the back of Cardwell. I have visited there twice. The above photo was taken on my second visit in January 2022.
September 2021
The first time in September 2021 it was stinking hot and the light very harsh. On that very hot day the water flow was so slow that I could crawl into the gap in the rocks to take this photo in a little bit of shade.

It was the middle of the day in September when I visited so I was not expecting good light anyway. That said it was a great place to have a break for lunch and a midday swim. It was so hot…no towel required.
