What this spot makes me think of

March 2022

This is one of my favourite beach locations north of Ellis Beach on the way up to Port Douglas.

It transforms during the day but I guess to most that quickly look it appears like this. The photos below are what come to mind when I think of this location after photographing it regularly for nearly a year.

Tide changes and the revealing and hiding of rocks.

Mountain range like rock formations.

Stunning dead wood littering the beach. Note the birds on the furthest rock for the next point.

The Crested and Lesser Crested Terns that fish the coastline by diving down into the water.

Often dark skies and that prehistoric looking rock.

The Eastern Reef Egrets that feed from those rocks and rock pools.

The last pieces of the rocks that are visible as the tide comes in. The little crabs that run around the top of them, notice the closest rock and the crab on it.

The vibrant green colour of those crabs.

Stunning sunsets on pebbled sections of the beach.

The turtles popping up to breathe as they feed along the coast at sunset.

The moody end to sunsets as the cars continue to drive up the coast towards Port Douglas..
