What to take photos of on a shitty landscape day
5th January 2022
As I looked through photos that I have done nothing with I noticed a heap that I have taken just to pass the time when I cannot find a landscape to photograph. I have no idea what I was thinking when I took this photo of bird shit in Barron Gorge.
In an attempt tp make something out of nothing on this day I left the shutter open for an extremely long time trying to isolate the two rock structures that had trees growing on them right out in the middle of the river.
Pretty wild flowers can be one go to subject of interest but I usually like to include one more element.
That missing element is a bit of fauna on the flora. I like to wait until there is a bird or insect on the plant to give it a little bit more interest.
Sometimes the insect adds to the plant subject and others times vice versa.
Then there are insects that are just the star on their own. I have no idea what this is but it is very pretty.
You can take a boring insect and put it in an environment that makes it look stunning as I think this moth (?) does. Once again no idea what it is.
If I get really bored I will try something extremely frustrating like taking photos of dragonflies in flight.
From an insect that is moving so fast it makes my eyes hurt to one that is dead and motionless. When I saw this I felt a desire to know what colour it was alive. If you know what it is please let me know so I can see a photo of a live one.
You know I have reached the peak of boredom when I do ICM. Intentional Camera Movement is done really well by some peopleā¦.but not me. If I have absolutely nothing else that looks interesting I will try one of these. Slightly long shutter speed and move the camera during exposure.
