Eubenangee Swamp

December 2020

The view from the lookout on a rainy day.

On your drive into Bramston Beach there is a turn off to Eubenangee Swamp. I cannot resist a swamp so we went in for a look despite it being a very overcast and wet day….most of the time

A bit of sunshine when we arrived.

Signage along the road is very clear and you come to the Swamp right near a bridge. Pretty hard to miss.

There are signs everywhere advising you that you are not allowed to walk out onto the rail tracks over the river/creek. In the wet it does not look like a good idea anyway.

Most of the walk to the swamp is under a tree canopy that winds along the side of the river. More signs along the way advising you that there are crocodiles present and not to approach the edge of the water.

As you near the swamp the tree coverage fades away and you walk up a pathway to the top of a grassy hill to the main viewing area.

Amongst the grass on the way you will see some flowers and the odd insect. There also appeared to be quite a few small birds flying in amongst the grass.

Once you get to the lookout you get a bit over 180 degree views. Even more signs advising not to walk down to the Swamp edge as crocodiles are present. Seems many ignore the warnings as paths down to the edge are present through the grass in numerous locations.

On the way out on when you get back to the base of the hill you will see a lawn mown path to the left. This path leads back to the carpark and takes you along the outside edge of the tree canopy you walked in under.

You get some more views of the swamp along the way and once again you will see pathways through the grass from those that have ventured further in to the swamp. Will visit again on a day when it is not so overcast and very wet at times.
