Ravenshoe Rainbows

The Ravenshoe area is home to a lot of birdlife and one species present is the Rainbow Lorikeet.
From the back they are almost totally green and blend in with the flora. Perhaps this is to protect them from larger birds of prey above.
Photographing these birds stationary in the trees is quite easy. Grabbing a photo of them in flight is more of a challenge.
When I am in the Ravenshoe area overnight and not camping I stay with Elaine and Trevor at Kool Moon Motel which I highly recommend. Make sure you book as they are often full.
