Comment:

This ring was a remake of a ring I made probably nearly 30 years ago.  At the time when I made the first ring this customer`s wife worked with my wife in one of my wholesale customers Opal shops.

Back then I was making jewellery for resellers and whilst not as bad as the normal thinned out disposable jewellery of today, the inside liner was omitted and the ring much thinner than I now recommend and make for my retail customers.

Fast forward to 2018 and we remade the ring adding in the liner and thickening the ring up to do this very valuable Opal justice. Lightning Ridge Black opals that display red are the most prized of all opals.

The weight of the ring increased from 5.7 to 11.1 grams, nearly double for a ring that looks the same from the top.
