We looked at two designs to set this gemstone into. It was a gift from a friend and she wanted to be able to wear it not every day but once in a while.

We expanded the base of a classic solitaire so that the large gem could sit down as much as possible.  Having an open bottom setting also reduced how much of the setting would be visible through the table of the gem once set.

The hassle of having to re-rhodium plate white gold and the extra cost of the privilege to do so led us to create the ring in Palladium Sterling Silver.
