Making some simpler rings
21st April 2024 - Customer location: Blenheim, Qld
You see me often sharing custom wedding rings in all sorts of unusual designs on my website. I do however also make more tradition or standard rings like the domed half round wedding ring above created in 9ct rose gold.
Even with standard designs I create I prefer to make them to size rather than resize. In most cases making these standard designs to the correct size can be done in a couple of days. That is not much longer than a delay to resize a ring and achieves a far better result for the long term life of the ring …….and costs no more.
To give you an indication of some ring shapes, widths and precious metal colour options with prices I have created a new section on the website showing some standard wedding rings.

If you have any questions please feel free to email or call me. Next lets look at custom wedding ring I finished this week for a South Queensland customer.
This ring has been made with a high dome to match the customers engagement ring I previously made. At a touch under 1.9mm thick it is a much heavier ring than a standard wedding ring which is usually made in the 1.3 to 1.5mm thickness range.
At the moment with gold at record highs that extra thickness adds to the cost of the ring. I predict many of the jewellery chains will make their jewellery even lighter still to try to match price points that appeal to customers in the short term. I wrote about this back in 2017 on this website.
The mill grain edging was a feature of the band diamonds in the engagement ring so they have been used to surround the centre strip of 31 diamonds in the wedding ring. A minimal amount of gold has been removed from under the white gold diamond section to allow for easier cleaning later.
