Two become one
21st February 20245- Customer location: Brisbane
I was recently asked by a very longtime customer to convert the two rings above that I had previously made for her into one. The intention of the customer was to still be able to see the two rings in the new single ring. Initially I had no idea of what we would come up with together!
Another request
To honour a late relative it was also requested to use 4 diamonds from a sapphire ring in this new ring. There were now 92 gems that I needed to unset. This took quite a while and the picture above is the unset jewellery. The sapphire would be returned in the ring to the customer.
The design
There was no urgent rush on this piece and just as well! We worked for quite a few months via email until we came up with the design above.
The centre channel uses the 4 heirloom diamonds from the sapphire ring . We created the design prior to me being able to accurately measure the diamonds. The design was created based on some measurements from photos emailed to me.
Other than some slight changes we needed to make make to accomodate the actual size of those diamonds once they were unset, the ring could be made to plan.
The end result
A couple of hours before I started typing this post I got an email from the customer advising that the ring had arrived in Brisbane and that she loves it. Took a while but mission accomplished. I loved the original rings but this design I like even more. The same but very different.
