Time goes by.

You really notice the passage of time when your customers children become young adults. Last week I delivered to a young women a pendant I designed with her that her parents commissioned. Above is the sketch she originally sent to me.
The pendant was to be made in silver which can be prone to bending. One way to add strength to the design would be to have more points of the metal touching.
After a lot of tweaking this is the design we came up with. It was true to the concept but also gave the pendant a lot more strength than the original layout. I also had some concerns with protruding sharp points on the original layout that we addressed.
Above is the finished pendant created in Sterling Silver with a natural Ruby set into the handle of the sword. A major part of the design process was deciding on the size and she decided to increase the size a fair bit. The pendant is 3.5cm long and weighs about 4 grams.
If the pendant was smaller I would have made the rose fuller in shape from the side but due to weight issues I had to flatten it as far as I could whilst still retaining the softness fo a round form. I think we did pretty well.
I would like to thank this family for their continued support and for valuing the time I put into the design and creation of this pendant.
