My twist on a design
8th October 2021 - Customer location: Townsville
Over the past couple of months I have been working on an engagement ring for a Townsville couple. Last Monday I met with them half way at Tully to deliver the ring. The ring is made in 18ct palladium white gold with a half carat centre diamond.
This couple became interested in my jewellery when they saw some of “make and melt pieces” that I created during the COVID lockdown.
She had seen an antique design elsewhere and knowing I love creating that genre asked me what I could create similar within their budget. She sent me the above photo of that design and we worked together to see what was possible.
Above is the side view of her ring. I discussed with her prior to making this design the fact that it does not really suit having a matching wedding ring and stands better on its own. She is happy to have the one ring to serve as both the engagement and wedding ring. Many of my customers in recent years have chosen the one ring option.
A new section to the website
I make and melt a lot of jewellery, either drafts to show customers, proposal rings or trial makes. Rather than scrap all of those items I am going to offer anything that I think someone might want in the new special section of the website. The first piece is a bracelet that was used in the design and making of a recent gold bracelet.

You can read more details about the bracelet in the new Specials section.
From My World this week a photo I took on the way home from that meeting in Tully. I strayed up the Palmerston on the way home as I am known to do. When I thought the sunset was going to be beautiful I strayed even further out to the highest road in Queensland. This photo was taken just off Tumoulin Rd which has an elevation of 1162 metres.
