More antique designs

15th October 2021

A touch of mid century and art deco.

One of the things that I love about antique jewellery designs is that they make very good use of smaller main diamonds allowing people to allocate more of their budget to a better quality gem, the design and integrity of the ring make.

Article: What to expect when you buy your engagement ring from a jewellery chain. Not good!

At the same time for those with a larger budget they can very often be scaled to use larger gems as well. Apart from that the design are timeless and just so much fun to make.

Some ring designs are very clearly defined into a specific genre but with this ring I see a bit of mid century, Georgian and Art Deco all mixed up.

When jewellery was being created in the Edwardian, Georgian, Victorian, Art deco, Mid century etc periods they were not aware of the label that would later be put on that time. My guess is that they borrowed from the past and often fused that with their own innovations.

This ring is for sale, in stock and listed in the shop here. I can also quote to customise it in any way you desire or customise another design that you have in mind as I did for this young couple.

Thank you Townsville

I spent most of my youth growing up in Townsville and also did my apprenticeship there. I have customers all over Australia but it does give me a special feeling when I make something for someone living in my old stomping ground.

The above earrings went down to Townsville this week and at present I am working on a very special Zenadth Kes piece for a customer there as well. The Christmas tree can be removed from the clip hoops and other drops worn instead. Those earrings also remind me, Christmas is almost here!

North of Ellis Beach, 10th October 2021.

From My World this week a lovely spot on the coast just north of Ellis Beach. My wife was away last Sunday so I worked and then headed to the beach late afternoon alone to sit and relax. My favourite spot had so many people on it that I had to try somewhere new. You can see more photos from that afternoon here.

We live in paradise :) Have a great weekend.
