Being patient

27th August 2020

This customer is a gem cutter and I often have the pleasure of setting his creations. I took a photo of his gem with my phone and used it as the starting point around which to digitally design.

When he cut the gemstone he desired more concave edges but without the equipment he had to scrap the idea. My job was to add the appearance of more concave, flowing edges in the setting design.

Like this …..but not really……you know what I mean :)

I found an image of a design that was sort of in the direction I wanted to go. LOL ……he has been with me for a long time so understands how I go from something like this as a starting point to something unique.

The customer lives in Mareeba so via email we bounced the design around and this is what I created. The claws of the starting point design are gone and replaced with a partial rub over style of setting that adds in the desired curvature. Really pleased with the end result as is the customer.

Thank you!

I need to say a big thank you to all of my customers for being so patient and understanding for the last 3 weeks. My wife has been ill and that has required me to take time off. Then again this week my son had a sporting accident and I have had to shuffle around meetings and generally mess people about and will do so for a while longer.

I did not post last week and this article is going to be very brief as I am running late with a lot of ordered pieces, designs and quotes.

Thank you to everyone for their understanding and we are working towards a good result for both my wife and son. We have some truly wonderful people in our health system.

To those customers that are still patiently waiting……I am getting back to work right now!
