The return of the Warup

Why I stopped making them

The rise of the gold price.

The rise of the gold price.

I first started making a Warup pendant for Zenadth Kes Islanders in 2016. Right up until the end of 2019 they remained at that original 2016 price.

However, during the 4 years from 2016 to 2019 the price of gold rose from about AU$1600 to around AU$2700 per ounce. At times the price was even over AU$2800 per ounce.

Despite learning how to make them faster to offset some of that rise in the gold price, they still take me a very long time to make.

By the end of 2019 it was no longer worth me making them without increasing the price. I kept on putting off increasing the price and in the end just stopped making them.

Why I started making them again

The short answer is that Zenadth Kes Islanders keep on asking me to start making them again. It seems you really love this Warup which makes me very happy. I guess I already knew that and partly why I continued to make them for so long without increasing the price despite making less and less.

6 Warups in various stages of production.

Early in 2020 I did some calculations to see what price I could make them and still be profitable at the higher gold prices. I also made some improvements to production to reduce the amount of time they take to make and the price rise. I did my best :)

It is hard to explain the size and feel of the Warup pendant so with an increase in the price I initially only offered them privately for people that knew someone who already had one. I wanted to make sure that they knew what the pendant was like.

Now it is time to put them back up in the shop section of the website for anyone who would like one and this time I will make sure I update the price regularly.

The new 3cm version

Whilst I was refining the production of the original 3.5cm version of the Warup I experimented with a smaller 3cm version in the hope that it might be a bit more affordable.

As the price of gold changes so will the price for both the 3.5 and new 3cm Warups. To avoid you viewing old prices as this post ages, please view them at their respective pages in the Zenadth Kes section of the Shop.

UPDATE: hours after posting this to the website both the 3.5cm Warup I had in stock sold. I am making some more. Please email me if you would like to be notified when more are available.

I would love to make them for less but this is the best I can do sorry. I was so not looking forward to increasing the price I stopped making them. Hopefully the smaller 3cm version suits some with a lesser budget and a desire for a slightly smaller pendant.

Did you know……

The 3.5cm Warup below the 5cm. Nearly 3 times the gold weight.

..that I once made a 5cm Warup. It weighed 3 times the weight of the 3.5cm version. Never made another and would hate to think what it would cost now.
