I can't come in. What will it look like on?

The desired style of earring.

Last week I made an earring for a health worker. Despite being in Cairns I was able to show her what the earring she desired would look like in her ear via email saving her a trip.

Shop item: Diamond sleeper for the helix/scapha

The method I am going to share with you is not exact but for most cases it is very close.

The ruler on an angle distorts the measurements a little but close enough.

I asked her to take a photo of her ear with a ruler so that I could scale the earring into it. The diamond set sleeper would replace the stud and wrap around the helix of her ear.

How an earring like this will sit on the ear is largely determined by the position of the piercing in the scapha, the size of the helix and the size of the earring.

The design edited into the photo of her ear.

The editing of the photos is rough but it does give a really good idea to scale of how the design will look on this customers ear. I use this same process for every piece of jewellery I make.

Whilst looking at the photo above with the earring next to a $2 coin you might think that it would be too small. Editing the design to scale to the customers ear gives you a much better idea of how a size will suit you be that for earrings, rings, pendants or any other piece of jewellery.
