The above Moissanite ring was created in 18ct Palladium white gold back in August this year. One of my most enjoyable pieces to work on for the year with this lovely couple.

It was always intended to remake the ring in 950 Platinum. In this article I will show you another proposal ring remake that was finished yesterday, one of many, that have been booked in for some time now to be completed before Christmas.

The short story is that I am fully booked for 2020 and no longer taking meetings for new work until mid January 2021 sorry. If you would like to call or email me to arrange a meeting for next year please feel free to do so.

Back in September I made the above engagement ring for a Tasmanian customer. It and quite a few other engagement rings I made earlier in the year are why since late November I have been booked out up until Christmas.

Those that frequent this website will already know that I really do not like resizing new rings.

They also know that most rings used for a surprise proposal ring are the wrong size. Even when they have someone measure them using generic sizers.

To solve this I make a draft ring for the proposal and after that the couple come in to fine tune the design and get the finger size correct together with me. This process I call the Proposal ring.

After a month and a bit more of altering size drafts this customer selected her finger size and I made the real engagement ring in 950 Platinum. The whole time she could continue to wear her proposal/engagement ring. When the Platinum version was ready for setting she returned the white gold ring to me and I swapped the gems over.

As you can see from above, safely removing gems from a ring really means destroying it. The new Platinum ring is now done and ready to send back to the owner.

The golden rule and no more new work for 2020

I promise to my customers that I will never run late with their pieces because I am chasing new sales, that is my golden rule. I am not saying that I never run late, just that it is never because I am putting the search for new sales before existing orders, even if that is taking a meeting or quoting.

All of my proposal ring remake customers come before any new work as they are paid for and that means I am not available for meetings and new work until mid January 2021. LOL….yes I am taking some time off :)
