Trying white gold
17th October 2020 - customer location: Thurgoona, NSW
I made the above engagement ring back in July 2019. After the proposal it was decided to stay with the same design other than to make some very slight changes to the underneath of the halo to accommodate the desired wedding ring.

The “white” gold is not white dilemma
The proposal ring was created in 18ct palladium white gold. As with all white gold alloys they are not the whitest of colour. To make white gold look whiter it is industry standard practise to plate it with rhodium, one of the platinum family of metals.
The problem is that over time that rhodium wears off revealing the off white colour of “white” gold. For some people the rhodium plating is not an issue but for others it is a hassle. they would rather not have.
Platinum - a white gold alternative
This lady tried her proposal ring in white gold for a year before coming back to me for remaking the proper engagement ring.
After a year she decided that white gold was not for her and the ring was recreated in a 950 Cobalt Platinum alloy. At the same time the wedding ring was made to match. If you think Platinum is Platinum then please take the time to read this article.

Have a great weekend. This Sunday I think we will be heading out past Mt Garnet towards Undara. Below is a photo of one of the tiers of McKenzie Falls near Ravenshoe on a wet and rainy day recently. We live in paradise!
