Making some changes

We needed to match an all white gold version of this ring.
With jewellery being such a personal choice with design and wear it is very difficult to get it perfect when buying it for others. This is an example of how we got it close when making a surprise eternity ring for the above solitaire and then perfected it with a remake.
The surprise ring
The diamond size chosen for the eternity ring.
I laid out the design showing different diamonds sizes in the eternity ring. The size chosen is displayed in the photo to the right.
I added the existing wedding ring in the photo so that we could look at how all three rings would look together.
10 diamonds were set into the ring forming a span that went a little down the side of the finger.
With larger diamonds the depth increases the thickness of the ring and this can be an issue for some at the sides.

With the customer happy with the design and quote, I next set about making the ring.

Deciding on changes
After the ring was given I met with the recipient and discussed the design and how it sat with her two other rings. She liked the diamond size but thought they spanned around the finger a little too far. She also wanted to see if we could make the ring a touch lower.

Making it just right
She loved the way the ring now looked so I set about remaking it. With the reduction in diamonds used the price of the ring reduced and she now had her perfect ring, less is more sometimes. The remade ring is shown below.
As you can see I use my proposal ring process for nearly all the rings I make that are surprise gifts. For some designs that is not possible but I will let you know if so right at the start. I might make an article that shows you an example of such a ring design soon.
