As we head towards June I am very busy with the creation of wedding rings. Today I will share three with you that all ended up making a slightly different design to the one first chosen.

A change of width

When we first planned for this wedding ring at the time of the creation of the engagement ring we intended for it to be 2.8mm wide. Before I made the actual ring I created a draft to confirm both the finger size and the design.

With this double helix design the ring would be almost impossible to resize effectively so the draft stage is a critical one to avoid any issues with size.

After trying on the draft the customer thought the ring would be nice a little narrower. I filed down one half of the draft until she liked the width on her hand. The ring shown above was then made to the exact width she desired.

Total change of direction

This customer initially thought he wanted one of my hammered wedding rings. Before I started making his ring he spotted another design that he liked, shown in the second photo above.

The design had a flat top but he preferred domed/half round with the same texture. I created a silver draft ring (gold plated) in the width he had chosen and then applied various textures to it for him to select from. He went for a slightly finer texture than the one shown in the original photo.

Less diamonds and detail

When I created this customers engagement ring in 2018 the above wedding ring was what we planned to make. Fast forward to preparing for the wedding and some changes were made.

I created a draft of the wedding ring for the customer to try on next to her engagement ring. At that stage she decided to reduce the number of diamond from 20 to 17 and to also remove the lined finish on the side of the ring.
