Going to plan

17th March 2019

I made the above engagement ring in June 2018. At the time we planned for the ring to have a straight wedding ring sit next to it.

Often I write about overcoming challenges in design usually brought about by dealing with jewellery other people have made or recycling the same. This is how smoothly it can go when I do everything from the start.

The ring width

To find out the width that the customer liked i digitally modified the width of the wedding ring on a photo of her hand. I did this with her in my workshop but this step is often done via email. Once she found the look she liked I then calculated the width and was ready to create the ring.

Adding a little touch

I was asked to add some engraving to the inside of the ring. The rectange reflects the inside of the ring. We confirmed the spacing and the font and now it was time to make the ring.
