Tablelands trip
16th June 2017
This week I spent a day on the Tablelands visiting customers. I currently have 5 pieces being made for Tablelands customers and 3 of them were at the draft stage this week. On Tuesday I made a trip to run through the final approval before making the actual pieces.
Getting started
The first of those five is a pearl ring I finished today. The Paspaley pearl was purchased on an around Australia trip and the customer had found this ring design that they liked the band shape.
For the pearl setting they liked the crown style of this ring. The plan was to merge the previous band to this setting.
Digital mockup
With the band and setting direction decided on I digitally created the design. Originally the customer intended to omit the diamond bars from the band as they looked too harsh. This is the digital mockup I came up with.
After viewing the design it was decide to go back and look at adding the diamond bars back in to the design but a bit softer in setting shape and diamond size. We put a little curve into the bar and used smaller diamonds.
The draft
The addition of the bar was approved so I next set about creating the draft in sterling silver, setting cubic zirconia into it and then gold plating. This is the draft that I took to the Tablelands for my customers approval.
The finished ring
Using the draft we did a final check of the design and we were also able to confirm that the finger size was correct. Next are photos of the ring created in 18ct yellow gold with white gold used for the diamond bar.
Next week I will share with you another piece that will be going to the Tablelands. Have a great weekend everyone.
