It was modern 10 years ago!

March 2nd 2015

About 10 years ago I created a pendant based on a then "modern" cricket bat. With the World Cup currently under way I thought it would be a good time to make a new design that reflects the current shape of cricket bats.

A lot of things have changed in the last 10 years especially the size of my two boys for whom I originally created this cricket bat pendant.

With my boys eagerly following the World Cup we decided to remake the pendant based on the shape of current bats in use. This is the design we came up with.

The power curve was also in the bat designs of a decade ago but today they are thicker and the top of the blade has a distinct concave shape either side of the centre.

On the front side of the bat I have hallmarked the pendant "375", the decimal hallmark for 9ct gold. I can hallmark the pendant in a more discrete location such as the tip of the handle if preferred. I have given the handle a matte finish.

The pendant is 4.5cm long and the one shown here weighs 3.1 grams in 9ct yellow gold.  At the time of writing this article I have one of these 9ct yellow gold bats listed in the shop for $195.
