For some time now I have been working on a new version of the website and today, New Years eve 2010, I am sending it live. I hope that the new layout meets the approval of my regular visitors to the site. There are still some sections to be moved over to the new site butthe bulk of the transfer has been done.

For those of you not interested in anything technical, the rest of this post may not be for you.

The main reason driving the change was the need to have one authoring environment for web and mobile devices. With the old site being created in Flash that is not likely to be possible in the near future given the attitude of certain consumer electronics manufacturers towards Flash.

Having spent 10 years learning and developing in Flash for my own website and others, I have now moved the site to Joomla. My hope is that this open source content management system will allow me to more easily deploy content to multiple platforms. The future holds the answer.
